GlobalFest Unveils Big News for August Festival 
 
(Calgary, AB - December 13, 2012)
 
GlobalFest  - Alberta’s Most Explosive Festival ™ unveiled big news at the their “Holiday Mixer” last night regarding the 11th installment of their world-renowned multicultural and fireworks festival (August 16-25).Over 200 guests packed the The Cat ‘n Fiddle Pub on 16th Avenue NW in order to celebrate the many sponsors, organizations, and friends that help make GlobalFest’s year-round programming possible. Some of the big news announced included:  
  • Returning Fireworks Director, Patrick Brault (Canadian competitor and winner of over 30 International awards) has assembled five nights of fireworks with three new teams participating in the 2013 Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival:
    • China (Hunan Jixiu Manufacturer & Display Co) -  Aug 16
    • France  (Storm Artifices) - Aug 18        
    • Great Britain (Pyro 2000 Ltd.) - Aug 20      
    • USA (Pyrotecnico; “Best of the 2012 Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival” Award Winner) - Aug 22        
    • Finale (Patrick Brault – GlobalFest & Sirius Pyrotechnics) Aug 25
      • The compulsory piece required for each country to incorporate into their nightly pyromusical presentation will be the theme song for the theatrical production of Quebec’s Clockwork Orange or Orange Mécanique’sChanson Thème” as composed and performed by Danny Lutz.
  • The induction and return of many new Cultural Pavilions at Elliston Park including: Cameroon, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sykotik Masquerade Club of Calgary, and Thailand for a total of 22 different Cultural Pavilions in the GlobalFest 2013 OneWorld Festiva
  • The new theme for the GlobalFest 2013 Human Rights Forum speaker series will revolve around Women’s, Gender, and Identity Issues through a viewing lens of ethno-cultural diversity
    • For the first time ever, GlobalFest will also be dedicating one session of programming to the topic of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Questioning (LGBTQ) issues.
  • The second year of GlobalFest’s Youth Urban Arts Programming will begin in January with in-school workshops being held at Hull Family Services and various other service agencies for students and youth in need.
  • From now until December 31, discounted General Admission Tickets and five-day GlobalPasses will be sold for $5 and $25 respectively (August price $15 and $62.50) at all Calgary Co-op Customer Service Offices in support of GlobalFest’s Individuals and Families In Need Program. For each General Admission Ticket purchased, GlobalFest will donate one ticket to a service agency that caters to at-risk youth or needy families. Last summer, over 4500 tickets were donated to service agencies for GlobalFest 2012’s festivities.
    • As of January 1, 2013, Finale tickets will be $15 till the end of the Festival.
