For the fourth year, both the Trico Homes International Fireworks and GlobalFest OneWorld Festivals take place int the same location: Elliston Park in East Calgary.

Access:

There are three entrances to Elliston Park - two entrances off of International Avenue (17th Ave. SE) and one on 60 St SE. Gates open at 6:00 pm every night.

BICYCLES

In order to promote environmental awareness, GlobalFest encourages guests to ride their bikes to the festival. Bicycle racks are provided free of charge at Elliston Park on a first come first serve basis. Racks can be found on International Avenue, in front of the Southland Gate.

Clothing:

Being an outdoor evening festival in Calgary, the temperatures do cool down after sunset. Please plan ahead, check the forecast, and dress appropriately.

Food Concessions:

Our concessionaires offer a variety of festival fare including hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, gourmet ice cream, coffee, and much more. Products will be available from:

HANDICAPPED PARKING

Handicapped parking is available for those with a valid Handicap Parking Pass at the RONA Distribution Centre. The parking lot can be accessed at the intersection of 23 Ave and 52 St SE on a first come, first serve basis.

kiddies korral

There are four children's playgrounds in Elliston Park, along with the Calgary Co-op Kiddies Korral presented by Shakers Fun Centre. The Kiddies Korral features bouncy houses, a Calgary Public Library family story area, arts and crafts provided by the City of Calgary's Community & Neighbourhood Services, and activities provided by TELUS World of Science.

OneWorld Cafe and International Bar:

International food and beverages will be offered in the OneWorld Cafe and International Bar. The Bar can be found next to the Rona (south) VIP Gate. (Check the map in your festival program for more details.)

GlobalFest is a family event, but we do offer alcoholic beverages from around the world for guests aged 18 and up to enjoy.

Parking & Shuttle Bus Service

There is no parking available at Elliston Park. Parking is limited to a number of lots operated by charitable organizations along International Avenue SE.
Please note: These lots are not operated by GlobalFest 2011.

GlobalFest encourages its patrons to use Public Transit or utilize the Southland Shuttle Bus Service from Marlborough Mall. Southland Transportation offers a round-trip shuttle service between Marlborough Mall and Elliston Park. One round-trip ticket costs $6.00 per person per evening.

PETS

With the exception of service dogs, no pets are allowed in Elliston Park, due to the loud noises created by the Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival. So please, leave your four-legged friends at home.

Road Closures:

To ensure everyone's safety during the Trico Homes International Fireworks and OneWorld Festivals, International Ave (17 Ave) SE between 52 St and 68 St will be closed from approximately 8:30 pm until 10:30 pm. During this period, traffic will be detoured to Memorial Dr via 52 St and 68 St SE.

SEATING

GlobalFest offers general festival seating. There are two large seating bowls created by the landscape of the park, with the south seating bowl also facing the OneWorld Main Stage. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Weather Conditions:

Fireworks could be postponed due to any conditions that organizers feel may jeopardize public safety. The alternate postponement day is the day following the regularly scheduled performance.

WHEELCHAIR SEATING

A specific area in the middle of the north bowl is reserved for those with disabilities.

WHILE AT THE PARK

GlobalFest reserves the right to inspect any packages brought into the park by patrons. Glass containers and alcohol are strictly prohibited. Beer, wine, and a selection of international beverages are available for purchase on site at the OneWorld Cafe and International Bar. There is absolutely no smoking permitted within Elliston Park.
